About me

joanne-rankinI am a Vancouver-based dietitian with over 30 years of clinical experience.  I am registered with the College of Dietitians fo British Columbia and am a member of Dietitians of Canada. I also have a Monash University certification in FODMAPs diet therapy.

In addition to my work as a clinical dietitian, I worked as a personal chef, taught at UBC’s School of Food, Nutrition, and Health, and perhaps the most challenging job of all, I raised two sons on mostly home-prepared food, while working outside the home.

I recommend foods to buy and easy ways to include them in a diet tailored for each client. My recommendations are based on my knowledge and experience, as well as current nutritional research. I provide practical advice for enjoyable eating that will improve your health. I may also make recommendations related to supplementation, relaxation, sleep and physical activity as along with what we eat, they also have a powerful effect on health.

Joanne was recommended to me by the Crohns and Colitis of Canada charity. She helped me build a simple, easy to follow short-term and long-term strategy to identify and remove pro-inflammatory foods from my diet. She taught me that a food plan doesn’t have to be rigid. It is what I eat most often that is important. It has made a big difference in managing my Crohns. It’s wonderful to have her as part of my IBD support team.
